CONTRACT AWARD
Preferred Construction, Inc. - Leaburg Pier House
Replacement - Electric Division. Bids
were received on April 20, 2000 for replacing the exterior stucco
finish on the three pier houses and the control house at the
Leaburg Dam. Staff recommends that a contract be awarded to
Preferred Construction, Inc. in the amount of $195,890 to perform
this work. The work involves removing and replacing the existing
stucco finish including the steel mesh lath. Included as part of
the contract work is cleaning and painting the existing building
frames and windows, and glazing the existing windows. Louvers will
be installed over two of the existing window frames at each of the
three pier houses. Staff, in consultation with the Environmental
Departmental, established protective requirements to eliminate the
potential of demolition debris entering the river during
construction.
$120,000 was budgeted
for the contract work on this project. The remaining amount will
be funded from budgeted monies not used for Job 19116, Jib Crane
at Smith Falls Diversion and Job 8449, Walterville Runner
Replacements. Excess funds are projected due to re-licensing
delays and the fact that equipment was purchased in 1999 for the
Smith Falls job. Contact person is Jerry Hohman, 484-2411, ext
3230.
