Light your way to energy savings The Eugene Water & Electric Board, in cooperation with the federal government’s ENERGY STAR® program, often offers rebates, coupons or other incentives to help homeowners and renters reduce their electricity consumption. When you replace light bulbs or entire light fixtures in your home with ones that have earned the ENERGY STAR® label, you also contribute to a cleaner environment while saving energy, money and time buying and changing lights in your home. ENERGY STAR® qualified compact fluorescent lighting uses two-thirds less energy than traditional lighting products and lasts six to 10 times longer. Replacing a 100-watt incandescent bulb with a 32-watt CFL can save you up to $30 in energy costs over the life of the bulb. Change a Light, Change the World Learn more about CFLs by going to the ENERGY STAR® web site. EWEB offers coupons The coupons are part of a regional promotion to encourage the use of energy efficient lighting that can save you energy and money while protecting the environment. ENERGY STAR® lighting fixtures carry a two-year warranty, which is double the industry standard. The lamps typically last up to 20,000 hours. That means, with regular use, you won’t need to change the bulb for at least seven years. How to participate:
