Spring Boulevard water service upgrade

EWEB Commissioners recently approved a dual pump station solution to address water service needs in the Spring Boulevard neighborhood.

The addition of a second pump station will bring service in the Spring Boulevard neighborhood up to EWEB and industry standards, while also addressing fire protection issues.

EWEB standards require at least two sources of supply for areas that have more than 30 customers. EWEB currently serves 200 customers in the area with a single pump station (see a map of the affected area). The second pump station will be sited along 43rd Avenue and Spring Boulevard.

EWEB plans to mitigate neighborhood impacts through a collaborative design process, which will include consulting with an acoustical engineer to address noise concerns.

Public involvement process

The board's decision follows a year-long public engagement process aimed at identifying a community-supported solution. An 11-member task group worked with EWEB staff to explore potential solutions, evaluate impacts and benefits, and develop a preferred solution consistent with water industry standards.
