Summer Drought Increases Chances of Harmful Algal Blooms

With parts of Lane County entering “Extreme Drought” conditions, EWEB will continue to monitor the McKenzie River watershed vigilantly for “Harmful Algal Blooms” (HABs) – outbreaks of toxic cyanobacteria (single-celled, blue-green algae) that thrive in warm water conditions.

EWEB Puts More Water Into River to Help Fish

EWEB Generation staff on June 13 started diverting less water into the Walterville Power Canal to increase McKenzie River flows in the bypassed reach of the river to improve fish migration and water quality.

EWEB Celebrates Drinking Water Week by Releasing Water Quality Report

Each year, EWEB tests more than 85,000 samples of water that runs through 800 miles of pipe to ensure your drinking water is safe. The current Water Quality Report reflects testing completed in 2020 and shows that the water provided by EWEB meets or exceeds all federal and state drinking water standards.
