Our award-winning "Tapping into Clean Water" exhibit is now on display at The Science Factory. And during Drinking Water Week, May 8 - 12, 2017, you can check out the WaterTown USA game board at EWEB's downtown location. We also will be selling emergency drinking water storage containers in our lobby, as part of our Drinking Water Week celebration and our Emergency Preparedness & Water Reliability Program.

An In Depth Look at Carmen Smith Hydroelectric Project

Carmen-Smith is a network of three dams and reservoirs and two power-generating plants located just a few miles downstream from the headwaters of the McKenzie River. EWEB recently submitted a modified Settlement Agreement that addresses the economic realities of the region’s energy markets, while honoring our original commitment to environmental and recreational enhancements at the project.

EWEB is in the process of relicensing our Carmen-Smith Hydroelectric Project to operate for at least 40 more years. Replacing the massive turbine shut-off valves is one of the first key steps in the powerhouse modernization project.

EWEB Installs Earthquake Early Warning System Sensor

"ShakeAlert" can provide precious seconds of early warning before the severe shaking waves from an earthquake arrive. We are proud to install sensors at our generation facilities, which will trigger automatic shut down of equipment in the event of an earthquake. The system does not yet support public warnings, but this version allows selected early adopters to develop pilot implementations that demonstrate the system’s utility and develop technologies that pave the way for broader use.
