EWEB relies on a vast network of pipelines to deliver water to your home. The smallest of these pipes are called service lines and they straddle public and private property. You or your landlord owns the portion of service line that extends from the water meter to your home. EWEB owns the portion that connects your water meter to the water main.

Recently, the EPA required all water utilities in the nation to complete a Service Line Inventory by surveying a random collection of service lines — both on the utility-owned and customer-owned sides — for the presence of lead.

EWEB is happy to report that no lead service lines were found during our inventory. This gives us a 95% confidence level that there are no customer-owned lead service lines in our system. In addition, we have reviewed records and inspected pipes and there are no known lead components in any of the EWEB-owned pipelines (service lines, water mains, transmission mains, etc.) that deliver water to local homes and businesses.

What about the water itself? For decades, EWEB has tested our water for lead. This testing shows that there is no lead in the water that enters the distribution system.

In Eugene, household plumbing is the most common source of lead. If your home was built before 1986, consider verifying your service line material and investigating other elements of your plumbing. See eweb.org/water/lead for more information.

Below is an interactive map that shows the pipe material for known service lines in Eugene. If your service line material is displayed as “unknown,” but you know it, please send a photo of the pipe or receipt of replacement to water.quality@eweb.org.

Note: This EWEB service line map is based on the best-available data EWEB has at this time. EWEB continually updates its service line data based on current information and records it receives.
